Chamber in Action
ANSWERS YOUR MAIL AND PHONE CALLS. The Chamber responds to hundreds of requests for information about Williston, its benefits and services. We give priority to Chamber members as we respond to their requests. We are the Calendar of Events hub.
PROMOTES THE WILLISTON COMMUNITY. The Chamber sells your city, your products, and your services to people everywhere by networking and referrals. Our new website sells the city of Williston to thousands of on-line visitors every single month (and we have the data to prove it).
TRAINS WORKFORCE AND LEADERSHIP. The Chamber conducts a variety of educational, informative and customer service sessions each year, often cooperating with the Small Business Development Center and Workforce Training. Our LEADERSHIP WILLISTON program trains up to ten new community leaders each session.
WELCOMES NEW BUSINESS. The Chamber personally welcomes new and expanding business within the Williston area and draws attention to their achievements through local media.
ADVOCATES AND LOBBIES. The Chamber lobbies in person and by letter on our membership's behalf when key issues are being debated and decided. We watchdog the Legislature on your behalf. We are key players in lobbying for adequate transportation infrastructure, maintaining airport and rail service, in addition to national weather service. We organize the forums that introduce you to candidates for election and ballot issues. We also work together with the state chamber of commerce, the North Dakota Chamber of Commerce, to identify and address key issues that affect the state's business community.
PROMOTES TOURISM AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. The Chamber works closely with the City of Williston and the Convention and Visitors Bureau to attract those interested in visiting our area or finding their new life here. The Chamber supports efforts to bring hunters, fishermen, vacationers, sports action, and conventions to the Williston area, knowing the economic impact these activities have on the retail and service sectors. Close partnership with the Williston Area Development Foundation steers business retention and economic growth.
All year long your Chamber brings agriculture, business, education, entertainment, finance, government, media, oil interests, the professions, recreation, retail, and all facets of the service sector together to enhance the economic potential of all member businesses and promote our mutual trade area.
Who pays for the work of the Chamber?
Financed on a voluntary basis, the Williston Area Chamber of Commerce is funded by membership fees, specific fundraising projects, management of a Williston branch of the Motor Vehicle Department, and partnership with North Star Caviar. Each membership dollar is more than matched by these other sources of funds.
