The Military Affairs Committee assists local military and veterans' organizations to recognize and respect our military heritage in Northwest North Dakota. Each August the committee hosts a golf tournament and oversees the annual Patriot Award given each January at the Chamber annual banquet in addition to the avenue of flags, Veterans day program and several other events and projects throughout the year.

Veterans Assistance Fund
Many businesses in the Williston area know the value of hiring Veterans. Many of these same businesses provide financial support to Veteran programs and activities. One of these is a direct support program managed by the Williston Area Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee. This program, the Veterans Assistance Fund, is a “tip-of-the-spear” program that takes the generous donations from area individuals and businesses to provide direct support to area Veterans in need. The funds are used primarily to purchase gift cards for food and fuel, but when a Veteran is in need of a haircut before a job interview that too falls within the scope of the program. These gift cards are inventoried and distributed by those trained in working with Veterans in need. Veterans can find them at the Williams County Veteran Service Office, the Veterans Administration Community Based Outreach Clinic and at Job Service North Dakota. This program has helped many Veterans get back on their feet and its success is supported by the fact that very few Veterans utilize the program more than once. So if you or your business is interested in finding a place to donate to our Veterans that has an immediate impact, this is the program for you.
