A dedication ceremony for the Freedom Monument at Riverview Cemetery has been set for Wednesday, September 11th, 2019 at 7:10pm.

The dedication ceremony will include live, patriotic music from 7:10pm-7:30pm followed by a program featuring remarks from Command Master Chief Tim Preabt and Williston Mayor Howard Klug. Members of the public will have the opportunity to view the finished monument, as well as the accompanying electronic kiosk which will educate the public on the monument.

Limited seating will be available, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for the ceremony. Riverview Cemetery is located at 815 9th Ave W.

The Freedom Monument, a project of the Military Affairs Committee of the Williston Area Chamber of Commerce, was designed and built to immortalize the combat and peacekeeping actions of US service members after the Vietnam War and to any future actions which required the service of the men and women wearing a U.S. Military Uniform. The Freedom Monument was designed by local artist David Njos, who also designed and built the Korean/Vietnam Monument on the north side of Veterans Plaza.
