Plant Your Roots in Williston - Katie Brewer, LW Class of 2022
Bringing new life to the area, and more trees! Brewer worked with Dakota PRO Landscape Services, LLC to bring the option for new trees to be rooted here. The trees will be planted in Westlawn Park near downtown. The trees will flower and bring great fragrance to the area enhancing the community. You can choose either “Red Splendor” or “Spring Snow”, and these trees can actually withstand the North Dakota temperatures!
Ice Skate Rentals at Raymond Center - Ashley Krasicki, LW Class of 2018
Ice skates are available at the Raymond Family Community Center for just $2 plus admission. Krasicki collaborated with her employer (WPRD), the WPRD Foundation and Williston State College Men’s Hockey to bring the program to fruition. The partnership allowed her to purchase 79 new hockey and figure skates. She also accepts gently used ice skates to beef up the inventory.
“I selected the program due to the void of skate rentals. I’ve worked Tyke Skate and Learn to Skate for the WPRD for the past 6 years so I have received a lot of questions about skate rentals in the community,” she explained.
Public Artwork throughout the Community - Caitlin Pallai, LW Class of 2017
Beautification of traffic signal control boxes from 1st St W down to 18th St W will transform from plain silver into works of art from submissions of local artist of all ages. Working with Clean Slate Group in Bozeman, she transformed several boxes into public artwork and hopes that it will help improve some of the negative perceptions of Williston.
“I’ve heard people say Williston is a dirty place that lacks an arts scene. While I cannot control the amount of dust in town, I can take steps to counter the belief that Williston is not, or cannot be, a town that supports the arts,” said Pallai.
