STTAR
(Students in Technology Transfer And Research)
The Students in Technology Transfer And Research (STTAR) program provides upper-division students (i.e., juniors through graduate students) in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with an opportunity to use their academic training and experience to address challenging science and technology-based problems faced by North Dakota companies. The ND EPSCoR State Office cost-shares the student salary, the STTAR cost-share is $7.50/hour. Companies must provide a minimum 1:1 match. Salary for the student must be a minimum of $600 per week ($15 per hour) for a minimum of eight weeks and a maximum of 12 weeks, based on 40 hours/week.

ND CAREER BUILDERS
The ND Career Builders program provides matching funds to help North Dakota businesses recruit employees and keep our talent in North Dakota. We are seeking businesses to participate and invest in this unique partnership!
A tool for businesses to recruit and retain talent in high-need occupations in ND, this innovative partnership provides $1 of state funds for each $1 of private-sector matching funds, up to a total of $17,000 per recipient! Individuals can receive a scholarship on the front end, loan repayment on the back-end, or both, for their commitment to the state to fill one of the high-demand occupations. It is a win-win for businesses, students, employees, and the state!
Destination Development Grant
Application Open: July 3rd - August 31st, 2023
The Destination Development Grant Program aims to provide financial support to develop new or expanded tourism experiences and attractions resulting in economic growth and diversification and to increase unique experiences for workforce recruitment and retention and enhance North Dakota residents' quality of life. This grant is intended to fund the actual building of infrastructure or expansion of an attraction and service that creates anchor tourism attractions that will assist in spurring and supporting secondary attractions within the state.
Williston STAR Fund
The voters of the City of Williston approved a 1% city sales tax through June 30, 2030.
Of the proceeds, 75% is dedicated to infrastructure debt relief for City of Williston projects with the remaining 25% dedicated to jobs creation and community development. Additionally the STAR Fund sets aside up to $50,000 each year available to City of Williston and regional entities seeking to enhance the quality of life within the region. Since 2010 the jobs creation and community development portion has assisted over 250 startup businesses, retail space, service providers, housing expansion, daycares, manufacturing, industrial facilities and quality of life improvements.
The jobs creation and community development portion of the STAR Fund is governed by a seven member board of directors.
Council on the arts
The North Dakota Council on the Arts (NDCA) is a service and program agency of the state, established in 1967 by State Legislature to “to ensure that the role of the arts in the life of our communities will continue to grow and will play an evermore significant part in the welfare and educational experience of our citizens.” Our purpose is to bring that commitment to life. NDCA operates with an annual budget of approximately $1.5 million through the support of the National Endowment for the Arts and an appropriation from the North Dakota State Legislature. The majority of NDCA’s budget is awarded to organizations and individuals through various grant programs.
PROJECT ASSISTANCE GRANTS
In 2023, the Williams County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) is pleased to make a total of $800,000 in Project Assistance Grants available through its Community Grant Program. A maximum of $800,000 is available across two grant funding cycles for the purpose of financially assisting community projects that have a public purpose and aim to improve quality of life, preserve historic sites, buildings or artifacts, fulfill an essential community need (e.g., daycare, recreation), and enhance community programming in Williams County.
